Personal Statement

Personal Statement

While my professional and academic life is centered on the intersection of cognitive science and AI, my personal life is defined by a commitment to community, a love for creative exploration, and a deep-seated value for the relationships and environments I inhabit.

Community

I am an active choir member in the Bass section. My spiritual journey is rooted in a Christian Universalist tradition.

Creative Projects

My background in visual storytelling (BFA in Animation from SCAD) continues to manifest in my personal time. Whether through technical art or software experimentation, I remain driven by the desire to build things that are both functional and aesthetically resonant.

Service & Volunteerism

Service has been a cornerstone of my identity since my youth as an Eagle Scout and recipient of the Vigil Honor
.

Travel, and Home

My husband and I share a love for travel, with frequent excursions ranging from coastal cruises to international explorations in Uruguay. At home, life is anchored by our three cats— Snickers, Heather, and Tigger. We recently lost our friend Moo, our 21-year-old "cow cat" Moo.

Values

I believe in minimalist utility and ethical leadership. I strive to act with practicality, transparency, and a focus on supporting those around me.
